The Dax Foundation is proud to support Organs 'R' Us (ORU), a San Francisco, California based non-profit organization that promotes the need for organ donors. Right now, as many as 100,000 Americans (including 2,500 children) are waiting for organs. 18 die each day before a donor is found. Through participation in walking and running events, transplant recipients, candidates, organ donors, donor family members and others have significantly raised awareness and promoted the critical need for organ donation while showcasing their fitness and proving that organ transplantation saves lives. The programs goal is to educate all people to communicate to their families their desire to donate their organs while they are healthy, which will allow grieving relatives to make an informed decision. ORU encourages family discussions, not about death, but about offering a life saving gift.
